WHAT DRIVES US TO BE AIDUCATORS – PART 2

Posted on 06/10/2011 at 05:45PM

At the beginning of this year we gave you a look behind the scenes of our scholarship-raising chapters in Switzerland, Germany and the UK and introduced some of our Aiducators there. Now we want to continue this story and turn the spotlight towards the faces of Aiducation in our talent-raising chapter in Kenya.

Jeremiah Kambi, is co-founder of Aiducation International and CEO of Aiducation Kenya. Jackson Mbovu is the CFO of Aiducation Kenya. Both of them are members of the core team that drives Aiducation work on the ground. They ensure that every step of our process is taken care of locally, set up partnerships with schools, screen applications, and advertise our scholarship programme even in the remotest areas of the country.

What do you like most about your work at Aiducation?

Jeremiah: It’s a dream come true for me, to give back to society. Being myself a product of society benevolence, I find it most satisfying when Aiducation is helping so many bright and needy students, just like other organisations helped me about 20 years ago. But it is also is the immense enthusiasm exhibited by Aiducators, AiduMakers and AiduFellows, to make the world a better place.

Jackson: I really like being part of such a special initiative, with the spirit and desire to strike a balance in accessing secondary school education between the rich and the poor – ensuring high transparency and accountability on the investment.

What, in your experience at Aiducation, has made you most happy or proud?

Jeremiah: Aiducation has brought palpable joy to households all over the country, in an envied unity that may shake the very own chains of tribalism, illiteracy, corruption, hunger and disease in a few years. These communities will break off from poverty and build a better Kenya. I can see it happening in our lifetime! And this makes me indeed very happy.

Jackson: Seeing the enthusiasm of people who volunteer towards the education of bright and needy students as a major means to eradicate economic poverty in this country. Ensuring that the dreams, talents and visions of young and bright boys and girls are driven towards reality – this has always been my aspiration and makes me very proud.

Tell us in brief about the work atmosphere at Aiducation.

Jeremiah: Commitment, respect, passion and trust.

Jackson: Creating equal balance in opportunities for gifted boys and girls to access education and reach their goals – that’s what makes Aiducation amicable.
